TUES & THURS 3:30pm
Jiu-jitsu is the art of self-defense, translating to “the gentle art,” which is used to absorb and control an attacker. Can-ryu Jiu-jitsu is a modern style of Jiu-jitsu adapted for Canadian society and self-defence awareness. Our toddler program is a fun and practical class, focused around the development of basic martial arts movements and techniques for kids’ ages 3-5 years old. During the classes the students will be taught how to act and behave in a martial art environment, learning to respect others and practise discipline, as well as physical attributes, such as balance, strength, speed, coordination, and focus.

TUES & THURS 4:30pm
The Junior Emergent MMA program is primarily for youth ages 6-12. Students will learn techniques from standing (ie. stance, striking, blocking, head movement, footwork, clinch, etc.), transition to ground (ie wrestling, takedowns, breakfalls ect), and ground (ie. positions, submissions, stand up ect.).
As students progress through the Emergent system, the complexities of different movements will be exposed. This will be determined by the level of the student and what the instructors believe they are able to undertake in their current stage of development. Beyond movements, students will learn to thrive in an environment of cooperation, respect and empowerment. Emergent will offer each student a lasting sense of belonging by empowering and preparing them to continue training as teenagers and adults.
We believe that the practice of martial arts does more than make fighters. Those who train martial arts, whether they plan to compete or not, build physical attributes such as balance, speed, coordination and strength as well as mental attributes including focus, discipline, creativity, authentic confidence and complex problem solving ability.
While we greatly value the importance of imparting upon kids the significance of work ethic as well as the qualities it takes to participate in life as a balanced and ever-growing individual, we also understand that kids want to have fun.
Through games and freedom of expression, fun is a key tool we use to keep our kids minds engaged, excited, and willing to put in the work when it is time.
We strive to create a community atmosphere that each child can take pride in being a part of.
Start them early, and put your children on a path to the greater awareness, discipline, character development, health and self-confidence that training in the martial arts cultivates.
Not to mention, you give them a skill they can take away into the rest of their lives: the ability to protect themselves in an increasingly fearful world.
