Emergent Kickboxing

This class focuses on the essential movement patterns common to all functional striking martial arts.

What is EMA?

A unique skills and fitness training methodology combining the most effective techniques from all combat styles: the self-mastery emphasis of traditional martial arts meets the real-world self-defense and pro-fighting effectiveness of “MMA”.

The highest quality kickboxing program in Calgary.

Fun, fitness, AND functional technique!

Emergent offers unique skills and fitness training methodology for all levels, beginner to advanced: the self-mastery emphasis of traditional martial arts meets the real-world self-defense and pro-fighting effectiveness of “MMA”.

In kickboxing, we combine the most effective techniques from a range of proven striking-based martial arts such as Muay Thai, Boxing and Karate.

Kickboxing is an amazing workout!  However, some schools sacrifice the quality of technique in the name of fitness – not us!  After just a few classes, you will feel confident in your kickboxing skills and general badass-ery.

Our goal: the introduction of ordinary people to their extraordinary selves.

One-on-One Coaching

We are not that school that has one teacher trying to teach thirty people – you won’t fall through the cracks.  In fact, our advanced students are required to attend and help out with our beginners. What this means is much more one on one attention, which greatly increases the productivity of your time with us.  You will learn much faster, and be able to do much more than most students in other classes.

Community and Fun

The Emergent team is a welcoming, co-ed group, proud of the quality of people that train with us. If you have always wanted to try something like kickboxing, but have been too nervous or shy to come to a class, we hear you – we all have all been there, and so we strive to create an open and welcoming atmosphere for the most important people in our school: the newbies.

Women’s Kickboxing

We have a full schedule of kickboxing multiple times a day, including womens-only kickboxing three times a week.

Fitness as a Lifestyle, Not a Bootcamp

All of our programs are by their very nature fitness oriented.  The difference between training for skills development instead of solely for the sake of fitness is the long-term lifestyle changes.

This is not cardio kickboxing, in that you will not waste your time learning terrible technique in the name of fitness.  It is a program to be taken and treated seriously, but in a welcoming, supportive and very fun environment.

You will get insanely fit while you train, rather than spending your time training to get fit.
